“Two-Man Cabinet” , NCP Leader Jayant Patil Takes A Dig At Eknath Shinde Govt

Mumbai: Taking a dig at the delay in allocation of portfolios by the Eknath Shinde government in Maharashtra, NCP state chief Jayant Patil said only a “two-member cabinet” was functional and people’s problems were being ignored due to flood-like situation and other issues.

Patil also suggested that differences between the alliance partners – the Shinde faction of the BJP and Shiv Sena – could be the reason for the delay in the allocation of portfolios.

This statement of the NCP leader has come at a time when the BJP and Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde faction are forming the government together in Maharashtra.

While the distribution of key portfolios is yet to take place, Shinde has taken over as chief minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis has taken over as deputy chief minister. Patil termed the situation as “tragic” and said only a “two-member cabinet” exists.

“The oath ceremony was on June 30. It has been nearly a month but still, cabinet expansion has not taken place, only CM and deputy CM are functioning as the whole state cabinet. It’s still a two-man cabinet of the Maharashtra Government,” the NCP leader said.

He claimed that the delay could be either due to a case pending in the Supreme Court or an internal dispute over the distribution of ministries.

“It is a very sad situation that the government does not have its entire cabinet. The delay could be either because of a case pending in the Supreme Court or due to an internal dispute over the distribution of ministries among both the allies or both reasons together,” said Patil.
