Understand Himachal Before Commenting: CM On Sisodia’s ‘Education’ Remark

Mumbai: Soon after AAP’s Manish Sisodia on Tuesday said the education system in Himachal Pradesh is “in shambles”, CM Jai Ram Thakur told Sisodia to understand the Himalayan state before making any comment on its people or education system.

After an unprecedented victory in Punjab, AAP is eyeing Himachal Pradesh, where elections are due later this year.

The AAP leader said that after talking to the people, he came to know to what extent the ruling government has ruined the education system in the state. He claimed that hundreds of government schools have been closed and expensive private schools have been opened.

“47 per cent of the colleges have no headmaster and 8,500 schools have only one or two teachers. Two lakh children have dropped out of government schools,” he said.

Sisodia further said that the ‘corrupt’ BJP has resolved to ruin the future of the children of Himachal by keeping the common man uneducated.

He said, “This time you are ready to change the attitude of Himachal’s education system. Like Delhi, we will also give world class education to the children of Himachal. Himachal’s future will surely flourish with you.

Responding to these comments, the Himachal CM said that Sisodia had a political motive.

“Improvement in any sector is good but that’s not their aim. Delhi and Himachal’s situation is very different,” he said.

The chief minister further said that Himachal Pradesh is no less than Delhi in terms of education, despite difficult circumstances. “Raising questions on our students’ capability is not good….they should first understand Himachal and then talk about it,” he said.
