Unwarranted & Narrow-Minded: India On Islamic Nations’ Group’s Statement

Mumbai: India has categorically rejected the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Secretariat’s “unwarranted and narrow-minded comments”, adding that India accords the highest respect to all religions

Responding to media queries about the OIC Secretary General’s recent statement, Official Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, “We have seen the statement on India from the Secretary-General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Government of India categorically rejects OIC Secretariat’s unwarranted and narrow-minded comments.”

The statement said that India accords the highest respect to all religions.

The statement said, “The objectionable tweets and comments defaming a religious personality were made by certain individuals. They do not, in any manner, reflect the views of the Government of India. Strong action has already been taken against these individuals by relevant bodies,” it said.

“It is regrettable that the OIC Secretariat has again chosen to make motivated, misleading and mischievous remarks. It only exposes its divisive agenda at the behest of vested interests,” the statement said.

“We would urge the OIC Secretariat to stop following its communal approach and show due respect to all religions and religions,” it said.

The BJP high command on Sunday suspended national spokesperson Nupur Sharma for her controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad during a recent TV debate.

In a TV debate on the ongoing Gyanvapi controversy, Nupur Sharma said that some things in Islamic religious books can be ridiculed by people. He said that Muslims are making fun of the Hindu faith and it is being claimed that a fountain has been found inside the Shivling Masjid premises.
