UP Govt Hands Over Ayodhya Airport Land To Airports Authority Of India

The state government purchased 317.855 acres of land for the construction of an international airport at Ayodhya

Mumbai: The Civil Aviation Department of Uttar Pradesh transferred the land purchased for the construction of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport at Ayodhya to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) today.

The state government purchased 317.855 acres of land for the construction of an international airport at Ayodhya.

The land was given on lease to the Airport Authority of India in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The lease agreement is between the state civil aviation department and the Airports Authority of India.

A total of 317.855 acres of land has been acquired by the Uttar Pradesh government for the airport project.

Both the Center and the UP government are hoping to make Ayodhya an international tourism hub once the work on the Ram temple starts, the international airport is an ambitious project towards promoting tourism and providing air connectivity to the surrounding areas.

Although an MOU was signed in 2014 with the AAI for the upgrade of the existing airport, the project could not take off. In 2019, the state government got a feasibility study conducted on the 178-acre area used for flying club activities and non-scheduled flights by small aircraft.
