UP Makes Face Masks Compulsory In Lucknow, NCR Amid COVID-19 Surge

Mumbai: In view of the increase in COVID-19 cases in India, the Uttar Pradesh government on Monday made it mandatory for people to wear a face mask in public places in the capital city of Lucknow and six NCR districts.

The districts falling under the National Capital Region (NCR) have been affected by the increase in the number of cases of Covid.

A government spokesperson said here that keeping this in mind, the government has made the use of masks mandatory in public places in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Baghpat and the capital Lucknow.

The official said that 65 new cases have been confirmed in Gautam Buddh Nagar, 20 in Ghaziabad and 10 in Lucknow in the last 24 hours.

In view of the improvement in the COVID-19 situation, the Uttar Pradesh government had earlier this month relaxed the wearing of face masks.
