UP: Two Days After Rape, 18-Year-Old Girl Hangs Self At Home In Aligarh
Uttar Pradesh: Two days after she was allegedly raped by a 22-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district, an 18-year-old girl committed suicide at her home.
The incident is from the Harduaganj area of Aligarh. The police have now registered an FIR in this case.
The accused who raped the girl is a resident of the victim’s village. According to a report in the Times of India, after narrating her ordeal to her parents on Wednesday, the girl ended her life by hanging from the ceiling fan in their house on Thursday.

According to the girl’s brother, the accused, identified as Ganesh, allegedly raped her when she had gone to the field to collect fodder.
Initially, the victim did not tell anyone about the incident. Later she went into depression and stopped eating. “When we pressed her, she broke down and told her crime. Before we could do anything, she ended her life,” the report quoted the victim’s brother as saying.
Based on a complaint from her brother, police have filed an FIR under section 376 (rape) and 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code Code (IPC) at Harduaganj police station.
