US Joins Israel in War Against Iran, Bombs Nuclear Sites as Conflict Escalates

Mumbai: In a major escalation of the West Asia crisis, the United States officially entered the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran on Sunday by launching airstrikes on three of Iran’s nuclear facilities. The strikes, which targeted Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, mark the first direct American military action on Iranian soil since the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
The airstrikes were carried out using B-2 stealth bombers, reportedly equipped with GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators, capable of destroying deeply buried targets. U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the nation shortly after the attacks, calling the operation a “spectacular military success.”
“Our aircraft completed a very successful attack on Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities. They have been completely and totally obliterated,” Trump said in a televised Oval Office address. He described Iran as “the bully of the Middle East” and warned of further consequences if Tehran refused to pursue peace.
“There will either be peace or there will be tragedy for Iran, far greater than what we’ve seen in the past eight days,” the President added. “If peace does not come quickly, we will go after other targets with precision, speed, and skill. Most of them can be taken out in a matter of minutes.”

Iran Retaliates, Fires Missiles at Israel
Hours after the American strikes, Iran responded by launching a barrage of missiles toward Israel. Over 20 missiles targeted cities including Tel Aviv and Haifa, reportedly injuring at least 11 civilians. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also claimed to have targeted Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv.
Israel’s military confirmed the missile attacks and said sirens were sounding across the country as another wave of incoming missiles was detected. In response, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) launched retaliatory airstrikes targeting Iranian military positions in western Iran.
“The IAF has begun a series of strikes toward military targets in western Iran, including missile launchers and personnel from the Iranian Armed Forces,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement. “These launchers were neutralised swiftly after they fired on Israeli territory.”
Rising Tensions and Global Concern
This marks a dangerous new chapter in the conflict that has rapidly expanded over the past week. President Trump’s decision to authorize the strike came just days after he had said the U.S. would take up to two weeks to decide on military involvement.
The use of B-2 bombers, stationed in Guam and capable of carrying heavy-duty bunker-busting bombs, highlights the seriousness of the U.S. offensive. Military analysts had previously pointed to the GBU-57 as one of the few weapons capable of destroying Iran’s hardened underground nuclear facilities.
Global leaders have expressed alarm over the growing confrontation, warning of wider regional implications and urging restraint from all parties.
As the situation unfolds, the world watches anxiously, fearing the possibility of full-scale war in one of the most volatile regions of the globe.
