Uttarakhand Govt To Give ₹1 Lakh Each To Families Of Those Who Die Of COVID-19

Mumbai: Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat in a virtual meeting with state officials on Thursday announced that Rs 1 lakh will be given as ex-gratia to dependents of those who died due to COVID19 in the state

“Dependents of those who die of coronavirus in the state will be given financial assistance of Rs one lakh by the government,” the chief minister said at a virtual review meeting.

Till Thursday afternoon ten people in Uttarakhand succumbed to the deadly virus.

Rawat instructed officials to conduct surprise checks on people who have been home-quarantined to ensure that they are taking all the precautions.

The CM also said that spreading social awareness about physical distancing and wearing masks even outside the containment zone is a necessity today. He said strict action should be taken against those who do not follow social distancing norms.

“All the district magistrates should do a gap analysis of infrastructure and logistics, assessing the requirements of the coming time. Be sure to raise facilities and equipment according to this gap. We also need people’s support in this fight against Covid-19 and strictness and awareness are out two major weapons,” Rawat instructed district magistrates.

With 323 cases Dehradun has a maximum number of cases in the state, the chief minister said that the city will be completely closed and sanitized over every Saturday and Sunday until further notice.

Currently, Uttarakhand has 1,115 COVID19 cases.
