Varanasi Horror: 19-Year-Old Girl Alleges Gang Rape by 23 Men Over Seven Days, Six Arrested

Varanasi: In a harrowing incident, a 19-year-old woman from Varanasi has alleged that she was raped by 23 men over the course of seven days after going missing from her home on March 29. She returned home on April 4 and recounted her ordeal to her family, who then approached the police and filed a complaint, according to a report by The Times of India.
The young woman, a resident under the jurisdiction of the Pandeypur Lalpur police station, claimed she was held captive and repeatedly sexually assaulted by a group of men at multiple locations during the time she was missing.
Following her statement, an FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by her mother. Six individuals have been arrested so far, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Varuna Zone), Chandrakant Mina, confirmed that three police teams are actively tracking down the other suspects named in the FIR. The accused include Raj Vishwakarma, Sameer, Ayush, Sohel, Danish, Anmol, Sajid, Zaheer, Imran, Zaib, Aman, Raj Khan, and 11 unidentified individuals.
According to the complaint, the girl initially went to a friend’s house on March 29, where she reportedly fell unconscious after being given an intoxicating substance. Later that evening, she encountered Danish, who took her to a hotel where she was allegedly raped by him and his associates, including Sohail and Shoaib.
The woman also alleged that earlier on the same day, Raj Vishwakarma had taken her to a café and raped her. In the following days, she was repeatedly assaulted by other men in different locations, including near the highway and at a café in the city.
Upon returning home on April 4, she narrated the sequence of events to her family, prompting her mother to lodge the police complaint.
The FIR lists serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 70(1) (gang rape), 74 (outraging modesty), 123 (administering harmful substances), 126(2) (obstructing movement), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation).
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to identify and apprehend all those involved.
