Vice president, Punjab CM Lay Foundation Stone For Kartarpur Sahib Corridor

Mumbai :  In a recent development Vice President M Venkaiah and Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh laid foundation stone for Kartarpur Sahib corridor, whereas it will facilitate easy passage to Sikh pilgrims to the historic Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan.

On 22nd of Novermber Union cabinet took the decision that to build the passage from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district to the International Border.

Kartarpur Corridor is a proposed border-corridor (border gate) between Pakistan and India connecting the Sikh Holy shrine of Dera Baba Nanak Sahib to the holy shrine of Kartarpur Sahib also referred to as Kartarpur Gurdwara, where Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji spent 18 years of his life states of Punjab in Pakistan and India.

The historical Kartarpur Gurudwara also known as Darbar Sahib Kartarpur is situated on the banks of river Ravi and is considered to be the first gurdwara ever built. On 22nd November 2018, the Pakistani government approved for building Kartarpur Corridor from their side. Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate ceremony of the Kartarpur Corridor on the Pakistani side on November 28.

As Kartarpur Gurdwara lies only 3 kilometers from the border with India. Union ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Hardeep Singh Puri and Vijay Sampla were also present at the event.

Recently Punjab cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sindhu also accepted the invitation of Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to attend the opening ceremony of Kartarpur corridor.

The Punjab government had launched year-long celebrations to commemorate the 550th ‘Parkash Purb’ (birth anniversary) of Guru Nanak Dev on November 23.
