Mumbai: Bollywood actress Vidya Balan recently took to social media to caution her fans about several fake videos of her circulating on the internet. She clarified that these malicious videos were created using artificial intelligence (AI) and urged people not to fall prey to them.
In one such video, an AI-generated version of Vidya is seen seated on a sofa, introducing herself by saying, “Hey, main hoon aap sabki favourite Vidya Balan…” To counter the misinformation, the actress shared the video with a large ‘Scam Alert’ illustration.
Along with the warning, Vidya posted a message for her Instagram followers: “There are multiple videos currently circulating on social media and WhatsApp, which appear to feature me. However, I want to clarify that the videos are AI-generated and inauthentic. I have no involvement in their creation or dissemination, nor do I endorse their content in any way.”
She further stated, “Any claims made in the videos should not be attributed to me, as they do not reflect my views or work. I urge everyone to verify information before sharing and be cautious of misleading AI-generated content.”
Vidya is not the first celebrity to fall victim to AI-generated fake videos. Earlier, Rashmika Mandanna made headlines when a deepfake video of her in an objectionable position went viral. Other celebrities, including Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Ranveer Singh, Aamir Khan, and Sachin Tendulkar, have also faced similar issues in the past.

On the professional front, Vidya Balan was last seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which turned out to be a box office hit. The film, which also starred Kartik Aaryan and Madhuri Dixit in key roles, was released in theatres during Diwali 2024. Despite facing stiff competition from Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty’s highly anticipated Singham Again, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 emerged victorious at the box office.
