Virat Kohli Becomes India’s Highest-Scoring Captain Across Formats
Rohit completed his 29th ODI century with a brilliant 119-run knock off 128 balls as he shared a 137-run match-winning partnership with Kohli
Mumbai: Indian skipper Virat Kohli has again proved why he is a world-class player here at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.
Kohli smashed a stunning 89 off 91 balls as India beat Australia by seven wickets to take the series 2–1 to register two wins.
Kohli has now become the all-time Indian captain. The current Indian captain has 11208 runs as the captain which is the highest by any Indian. He overtook former captain MS Dhoni, who scored 11207 runs as captain. While Dhoni took 330 innings to score 11,208 runs, Kohli surpassed him in just 199 innings as captain. Mohammad Azharuddin (8095) is third on the list followed by Sourav Ganguly (7643).

Overall, Kohli has 11,792 runs in ODIs, 7202 runs in Tests and 2689 runs in T20I which includes 70 international centuries and 104 fifties. Kohli is one of the highest run-scorers for India since taking over as captain from Dhoni in all formats of the game and continues to break records at will.

Kohli and Rohit Sharma tried to take India home on Sunday as Men in Blue chased down the target comfortably after Aaron Finch’s men were restricted to a score of 286/9 in 50 overs. Rohit completed his 29th ODI century with a brilliant 119-run knock off 128 balls as he shared a 137-run match-winning partnership with Kohli. With the win, India made a stunning comeback to win the series 2–1 after ten wickets of the series opener in Mumbai.
