Vistara Flight Makes Emergency Land After It Had 10 More Minutes Fuel Left

Mumbai: Emergency landing in Lucknow made by Vistara flight which was travelling from Mumbai to Delhi with 163 people on board after it had just a few more minutes of fuel left.

The Mumbai-Delhi UK 944 of Vistara was being run on Delhi for 3-1/2 hours on Monday due to the bad weather conditions it was diverted to Lucknow. The aircraft also considered Kanpur and Allahabad (Prayagraj) as an alternative airport.

However, the pilots announced the ‘Mayday’, because the situation was worsened with barely 10 minutes of fuel. Air traffic controllers at the Lucknow airport rescued the next flying airport, Prayagraj, on the day of the flight, it will take at least 30 minutes more.

“The pilot who was operating UK944 flight and issued a ‘Mayday’ call on Monday has been grounded by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA),” a source told news agency PTI.

A spokesman for Vistara said, “The unpredictable decline in visibility at the destination location was the main reason that due to the aircraft regulations the required flying plan ended in low fuel conditions despite taking additional fuel over and above the fuel, passengers and crew The security was kept on top priority during the flight. ”

The pilot flying the Vistara aircraft has been ‘de-rostered’ as per instructions of the regulator.
