Vivek Oberoi To Make A Film On Wing Commander Abhinandan’s Balakot Airstrikes

Mumbai: Vivek Oberoi who was lastly seen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s biopic will now produce a movie based on the Balakot airstrikes to salute the valour of the Indian Air Force.

Titled Balakot, the film will be based on the capture and subsequent release of IAF wing commander Abhinandan Vartaman following the terrorist attack on 14 February in Pulwama district of Kashmir.

“As a proud Indian, a patriot, and a member of the film fraternity, it is our duty that our Armed Forces are truly capable. As a trilingual, this film brings to light the achievements of brave officers like Wing Commander Abhinandan it is a powerful tool to underline who went behind enemy lines and did what every Indian is proud of,” said Vivek.

“Balakot Airstrike was one of the most well planned attacks by the IAF. I have followed all the news from the attack in Pulwama to the airstrike in Balakot. There was much that was anticipated and spoken about; This film will ask for rest once and for all. I thank the IAF for trusting us with this story and we hope to do it justice.

“I am delighted to receive the requisite permission from the Indian Air Force a day before Independence Day. Hollywood filmmakers applaud their armed forces, intelligence agencies, industries and leaders. Why should Indian filmmakers be ashamed to do this for India?

“As a nation, with one of the strongest armed forces in the world, we have achieved a lot, and it’s time to reinvent it in the world at large,” Vivek said.

The film will go on floors this year and is expected to release in 2020. It will be shot against the backdrop of Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Agra.
