Mumbai: Two former cricketers came in support of Gautam Gambhir, after allegations of distributing a prescription filled with derogatory charges against the political opponent.
“Shocked to hear about yesterday’s developments. Having known Gautam Gambhir for nearly 2 decades, I can vouch for his integrity, character and the respect he has for women,” former cricketer VVS Laxman tweeted saying.

Meanwhile, off-spinner Harbhajan Singh tweeted saying, “I am shocked to note (the) events involving Gautam Gambhir. I know him well and he can never talk ill of any woman. Whether he wins or loses is another matter but the man is above all this.”

Notably, Gambhir had denied the allegations and sent a defamation notice to AAP leaders, suggesting that the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, whom he called “dirt”, an unsolicited pamphlet titled ‘P Atishi Marlena know your candidate’.
Mahesh, the Returning Officer of East Delhi, wrote a letter to the police demanding that FIR be lodged in the case.
“Nobody has signed on the pamphlet, but this is definitely some mischief. I told them (DCP) that at first glance it is a case of defamation, “Mahesh said.
