Want Tourists To Visit Himachal But Must Follow COVID-19 Norms: CM

Himachal Pradesh: After the Centre raised concerns over people flouting COVID-19 norms at tourist spots in Himachal Pradesh, CM Jairam Thakur on Saturday said the state government wants tourists to visit, but they must follow all protocols.

Thakur told ANI, “Recently, several tourist towns including Shimla, Manali, Dharamsala saw an influx of tourists. We have ordered districts to deploy police force to regulate and monitor traffic and warn people against venturing into rivers etc during rains.”

The Chief Minister said that hotel associations have also been asked to implement SOPs for the functioning of hotels.

“At places where tourists are in large numbers, enforcement of COVID protocols is being done. We have also asked hotel associations to implement SOPs for the functioning of hotels. We want tourists to visit our state but they must follow COVID protocols,” he said.

Himachal Pradesh reported 2 from Shimla district and 126 positive cases on Friday. 13 positive patients have also recovered in the state. The state has a total of 204224 confirmed positive cases of which 1136 cases are active, 199582 patients have recovered while 3488 patients have died.

So far a total of 2648371 persons has been tested for Covid-19 to the date of which 2444095 persons have been tested negative. Since 7 pm on Thursday, a total of 14709 samples was tested in the state and results of 52 samples were awaited. Himachal Pradesh Covid-19 deaths
