We Are Confident Mahagathbandan Will Form Government In Bihar: RJD

Mumbai: As soon as the counting of votes began in Bihar, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) said on Tuesday that the party was confident of forming a grand coalition government in the state and asked its candidates and workers to be present at the counting center by the end of the electoral process. Continued till late at night.

“We are in touch with all candidates and workers. Information received from all districts is in our favor. The counting will go on till late at night. We are assured of forming Mahagathbandan. Bihar has done the change. All the candidates and counting agents to be at counting centre till counting of votes is not complete,” RJD tweeted in Hindi.

Initial trends suggest that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has one more win with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on most seats in the 243-seat Bihar assembly. The grand alliance led by Tejashwi Yadav is following the NDA alliance very closely and it is being seen how the two coalitions will fare till the counting of votes is over.

The 243-member Assembly is witnessing a fierce competition for the post of Chief Minister, and as per the current trends, the NDA is comfortably ahead of the opposition camp. A party or coalition must secure 122 seats in the 243-member assembly to form a government in Bihar.

The elections were held in three phases – 28 October, 3 November, and 7 November, and exit polls predicted an RJD-led ‘mahagathbandhan’ which is troubling for the NDA government. A total of 3,755 candidates are in the fray this year.
