We Believe In Maintaining Decorum Not Public Statement’, BJP Dismisses Prashant Kishor’s Demand For More Seats For JD(U) In Bihar Assembly Election 2020

Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party, in response to JDU President Prashant Kishore’s recent remarks, said that the ‘Lok Sabha election formula cannot be repeated in Bihar assembly elections’ is only news value.

“All the decisions in NDA related to 2020 elections are a matter of discussion between our top leadership,” Bihar BJP spokesman Nikhil Anand said.

His statement comes after Kishore, a poll-strategist-politician had said that ‘the Janata Dal (United) is a senior partner in the NDA in Bihar, it should contest more seats than the BJP in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections 2020’. A TV channel, Kishore had also said that the Lok Sabha election formula cannot be repeated in the ‘election’.

In the Lok Sabha elections this year, both JD (U) and BJP contested 17 seats, including six seats for Ram Vilas Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), which joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in 2014.

The sharing formula was set in 2019 without taking into account the 2019 election results. Poll strategist-turned-politician Kishore said that I have no reason to decide the future election on the basis of 2019.

Furthering his point, the poll strategist, who had ranked the BJP with its continued outrages against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC), said that the JD (U) was a big party. Which has around 70 MLAs while BJP has just over 50.

“If we look at the 2010 assembly elections, the last time the JD (U) and BJP contested together, the ratio was 1: 1.4. Even if there is a slight change this time, it may not happen that both parties contest an equal number of elections. Also, the assembly elections should be fought with Nitish Kumar as the face of the NDA.
