“We Want Frank Discussions,” PM Modi Ahead Of Winter Parliament Session

Mumbai: Ahead of the winter session of Parliament, PM Narendra Modi said that they would like to have a Frank discussion on all issues.

“We want a frank discussion on every issue. It is important that quality should be debated, dialogue and discussion should all contribute to enriching discussion in Parliament,” PM Modi said in his brief media address.

Referring to the last session in which several bills were passed including punishing triple talaq, PM Modi said, “In the last few days I have had the opportunity to meet leaders of almost all political parties. The final session was unprecedented due to the support and active participation of all MPs, which is an achievement not only of the Government or Treasury Bench but of the entire Parliament.”

He said, “This is the last Parliament session of 2019. This is very important because it is the 250th Parliament Session of the Rajya Sabha. During this session, we will observe Constitution Day on 26th – when our Constitution completes 70 years.”

Responding to PM Modi’s appeal, Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the opposition wants the ruling party to discuss the interest of common people in all the houses.

“Parliament is meant for discussion, debate, and dialogue.” It is incumbent upon the government to run the House smoothly so that the opposition parties will be able to express their views in a fair manner. This is the essence of parliamentary democracy. ”
