Mumbai: US President Donald Trump on Sunday expressed confidence that the coronavirus vaccine may be available by the end of the year.
“I think we’ll have a vaccine by the end of the year,” Trump said at a Fox News virtual town hall. “We will have a vaccine much sooner rather than later.”
According to the latest figures from Johns Hopkins University, the number of coronavirus cases in the US has risen to 11,57,687, while the death toll is 67,674.
At the same time, the global number of coronavirus cases has exceeded 3.5 million, while fatal virus-related deaths have risen to 247,306.
The discovery of a vaccine for coronavirus infection has already intensified worldwide.
The European Union has promised to set up an international medical program to lead a global response to fight coronavirus and raise USD 8 billion to find a vaccine and treatment for the epidemic.
As reported by the Washington Post, at least 115 vaccine projects are underway in laboratories in companies and research laboratories, within the United States.
