Wear A Mask Even Within The Family, Don’t Invite People Into Your Home: Govt

Mumbai: Amid rising COVID-19 cases, VK Paul, NITI Aayog’s Member-Health on Monday said it’s time people start wearing masks inside their homes as well as the second wave of COVID-19 has hit the country.

It also appealed to people not to panic over the current COVID-19 situation, saying “unnecessary panic causing more harm than good.”

“In this COVID19 situation, please don’t go out unnecessarily, and even within the family wear a mask. It is very important to wear a mask. Do not invite people into your home. We cannot let the pace of COVID19 vaccination decline in the face of the emerging situation. In fact, vaccination should be escalated,” said Dr VK Paul, Member-Health, Niti Aayog.

He also said that women can take the COVID-19 vaccine during menstruation.

The centre also said that several people were found occupying the hospital bed due to nervousness, and urged them to seek admission only on the advice of doctors.

The government further underlined that rational use of oxygen and proper use of drugs like Remedisvir and tocilizumab are important in the fight against the pandemic. This called for hospitals to make judicious use of oxygen and prevent leakages if any.

The Center said that research has shown that if no physical disturbance measures are followed, a person can infect 406 people in 30 days. It was also stated that if there is a 50 per cent reduction in physical risk, then a person can infect about 15 people during a period and if the physical risk is reduced by 75 per cent, a person can reduce about 2.5 people in 30 days.

It further said that eight states, including Maharashtra, have more than 1 lakh active cases of coronavirus. The states with more than 1 lakh active cases are – Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.
