West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Cancels To Meet Injured Junior-Doctor, Paribaha Mukhopadhyay

Mumbai: There is no indication of doctors protest comes to an end in West Bengal, by which Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee cancelled her meeting with the injured doctor, Paribaha Mukhopadhyay, on Saturday.

She was going to meet Mukhopadhyay, who was injured in clashes between junior doctors and relatives of a 75-year-old patient on Monday night, whose alleged medical care had died due to negligence.

Dharm Mukhopadhyay sustained a serious skull injury in the attack and was admitted to the Intensive care unit of neuroscience Institute in Park Circus, Kolkata.

According to the reports, the doctors treating Paribaha Mukhopadhyay will brief Mamata Banerjee about the junior doctor’s health condition.

The incident took place on Monday at NRS Medical College and Hospital after a 75-year-old patient passed away and his family members reached the hospital around 11 pm and clashed with the junior doctors on duty, alleging medical negligence.

Two junior doctors – Dharm Mukhopadhyay and Yash Takwani – were allegedly beaten by relatives of a deceased patient.

After which protest all over the state took place many of the government hospitals and medical colleges were kept closed. A large police contingent had to be deployed at the hospital to avoid any untoward incident.

Several hospitals in Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana went on a strike in solidarity with the protesting doctors of West Bengal, demanding safe environment for the practitioners.
