West Bengal Govt To Pay Full Train Fare For The Return Of Migrants

Mumbai: Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee announced on Saturday, that its government will bear all the expenses for the return of migrant workers to state who are stranded in different states due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

“Saluting the toil faced by migrant brethren, I am pleased to announce the decision of GoWB to bear the entire cost of movement for our migrant workers by special trains from other states to WB. No migrant will be charged,” she tweeted on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

A letter signed by the West Bengal chief secretary Rajiv Sinha is being sent to the railways. It mentioned that, ” I would like to confirm that entire cost of movement by the special trains to West Bengal, of migrants of the state stranded in various parts of the country, shall be born by Government of West Bengal.”

There have been multiple disputes between the Governor and Chief Minister of West Bengal regarding the management of the COVID-19 situations.
