Whether It Is Ganguly Or Kohli, Talking Badly In Public Not A Good Thing: Kapil Dev

Mumbai: After Virat Kohli contradicted Sourav Ganguly and said he wasn’t asked to not leave T20I captaincy, India’s 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev said, “It is not good to point fingers on anybody at this point in time.”

In what has become one of the biggest controversies in Indian cricket in recent times, Kohli has denied the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) claims that he was not asked to step down from T20I captaincy and claimed that no prior communication. about this. The ODI captaincy with him in a fiery press conference ahead of India’s trip to South Africa for a multi-format tour.

Kapil has hit out at Kohli for his explosive comments and suggested his timing was wrong with an important series coming up.

Talking to ABP News, he said, “It is not good to point fingers on anybody at this point in time. The South Africa tour is coming and please pay attention to the tour.”

Dev further stated that the BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly and the Indian captain badly talking about each other in public is not good for Indian cricket.

“I would say board president is board president but yes, the Indian cricket team captain is also a big thing. But talking badly about each other in public, I don’t think it is a good thing, whether it is Sourav or Kohli,” said Kapil.

He added, “You have to control the situation and it would be better to think about the country first. Whatever is wrong will be known soon but speaking publicly about the topic, I think, is wrong at this time. I would not want to see any controversy ahead of an important tour.”

Earlier, Ganguly claimed that he had personally spoken to Kohli about the change in ODI captaincy and had earlier asked him to retain the T20I captaincy.

The BCCI president also said that the selectors’ desire for a white-ball captain was the reason for Kohli’s removal.
