Why Weight Loss Should Not Be The Only Goal Of Exercise For Women

Nari shakti or woman power as we hear very often, this term clearly resonates with the ability of a woman to multitask forever.

Women are known to be a full-time employee of their own house. From cleaning, cooking, taking care of their children and family, and doing jobs. This has no doubt increased a toll of stress on their lifestyle.

This daily and common stress lead to weight gain in most of these women.
However, most of these women don’t really pay attention to their physical activity and exercises.

The women other than working as a housewife are also working for their living.This has again added to their stressful lives.

Exercising daily has many benefits like strengthening muscles, bones, and joints. Maintains good condition of vital organs, especially heart. Indirectly it prevents heart conditions. Having regular physical activity and performing the exercises releases Endorphins (hormone). This hormone releases a positive feeling in the body.

Physical activity also stimulates the release of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin.

These hormones are also popularly known as “FEEL GOOD HORMONES”.

1.Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that conveys signals or messages between neurons. Known to control mental and emotional responses with motor reactions. Dopamine is particularly known as being the “happy hormone.” 

It’s because of this hormone, people feel happy after exercising.

  1. Norepinephrineincreases heart rate and pumps the heart. It also increases blood pressure and helps break down fat and increase blood sugar levels to provide more energy to the body. So you feel energetic, and your heart is pumping well.
  1. Serotoninhelps to regulate anxiety, happiness, and mood. One of the main causes of depression is associated with low levels of this hormone. Therefore people struggling with depression are encouraged for exercises and physical activities.

According to a popular research, depression is triggered if something is wrong with the brain chemistry. And physical activity helps in improving chemistry so as to prevent depression.

Exercising 30 mins daily promotes a good sleep cycle, as in women it is found that the cycle is usually hampered due to anxiety and overthinking.

The women who are physically active for example housemaids have better flexibility and strength as compared to the ones who are not involved in any exercises.

For women yoga class, Zumba class, jogging can be an occasion to extend their social circle.

Do you remember our dadi and Nani, they were so fit because they were so active back then in their adulthood. They use to wash their clothes with their hands and here we use washing machines. They use to clean the floor three times with cloth and we use a mop or we have housemaids to do the cleaning. This clearly means we need to increase our physical activities at least to that level where our muscles don’t lose their flexibility and our bones don’t lose their strength.

So in short other than weight loss, there are so many things that could benefit women to live a healthy life. Why don’t you book at least 30 mins of slots for your activity, I am sure you won’t regret it.
