Will See How Shiv Sena React: BJP On Rahul Gandhi’s Savarkar Remark

Mumbai: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s comment over “Rahul Savarkar’ is making headline here as BJP took dig over Shiv Sena which is a vocal supporter of late Hindutva ideologue VD Savarkar, popularly known as Veer Savarkar and also the newest ally of Congress party.

The Congress leader, while addressing the party’s mega rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, refused to apologize for ‘address rape’ in India’s remarks, stating that his name was “Rahul Gandhi, not Rahul Savarkar” there was a reference to Veer Savarkar.

“My name is Rahul Gandhi, not Rahul Savarkar. I will never apologise for speaking the truth and nor will any Congressman do so,” said Rahul asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and “his assistant Amit Shah” to apologise “to the country for destroying India’s economy”.

Meanwhile, BJP leader says he looks forward to Congress ally Shiv Sena’s defence of Rahul Gandhi’s insinuation that Hindutva icon Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was a coward.

“Looking forward to seeing Shiv Sena defend Rahul Gandhi for his statement implying that Veer Savarkar was a coward who apologised’!” BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya tweeted later.

Shiv Sena and BJP recently pulled out after winning the Maharashtra elections. After weeks of drama, an alliance was formed by Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were among the other senior leaders who spoke at the party’s “Save India” rally, which they organized to highlight the “failures” of the Modi government.
