Will Shed My Blood But Never Allow Division Of Bengal: CM Mamata
Mumbai: Amid demands for a separate state carved out of West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said she’s ready to shed her blood but will never allow a division of the state.
Attacking the saffron camp for “attempts to promote separatism” in the state, ahead of the general elections in 2024, the TMC supremo said that all communities in north Bengal were living in harmony for decades.
“With elections approaching, the BJP is fueling the demand for a separate state…sometimes for Gorkhaland and sometimes for a separate North Bengal. I am ready to give my blood,” Banerjee said. But I will never allow the bifurcation of the state,” she said while addressing a party meeting here.
In a reference to a purported video of Kamtapur Liberation Organisation’s leader Jeevan Singha threatening Banerjee with a “bloodbath” if she opposes the demand for a separate Kamtapur, the enthusiastic TMC boss said such threats do not intimidate him.
“Some people are threatening me, I don’t care. I am not afraid of such threats,” she added.
