Will Wing Commander Abhinandan Fly Again?

Mumbai: IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was back on Friday to the country after 2days being in custody of Pakistan as he had crossed LOC during a mission. Being in MIG 21, he brought down Pakistan aircraft F16 which was given by the US to Pakistan on a rental basis so that to fight terrorism but misusing it, Pakistan did an Airstrike with India.

IAF Chief  Marshall Birendra Singh Dhanoas said, “Whatever treatment is required for Abhinandan, we will provide him. Whether he flies again or not will depend on his medical fitness.”

“Medical rejection levels are very high when we select people for entry. The curvature of the spine and your physical condition should be excellent to take a high level of ejection injury,” Marshall said.

Medical fitness is very essential to be in IAF. He explained, “One will have to spend the whole life resting on a wheelchair if you are not perfect because ejection is something that takes a toll in the body. We cannot take chance with the fitness of a Fighter Pilot,” he said

“I will not comment at on-going operation’ Marshall said when he was asked to locate the condition about the border.

Wing Commander Abhinandan landed safely after his aircraft crashed but was in custody of Pakistan. Also, he went to destroy confidential documents by swallowing it. According to the reports, he was hit by the local civilians in Pakistan.

IAF Commander was not physically tortured by Pak Army but ‘Faced a lot of mental harassment’, Abhinandan said.

Officials said, During a separate meeting with the Air chief, Abhinandan thoroughly explained about his confinement in Pakistan. Earlier Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the Air chief met at the Army hospital in Delhi.
