With Highest Number Of 14 MLAs, Congress Should Be Allowed To Form Government In Goa’, INC Leader Azad

Mumbai: On Monday, The Indian National Congress countered BJP of creating an “Artificial majority” at the directions by the Centre government in Goa. It advised Governor Mridula Sinha to invite opposition party as well as it was the single party who was the largest one.

After the death of Goa Chief Minister and Former Defence Minister, Manohar Parrikar on Sunday due to Pancreatic cancer, the question raised for the next CM of Goa.

“I want to take the attention of whole nation and media as well and want to tell that democracy must be formed in Goa and leaders who are sitting on opposite site should take the correct action”, Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said in New Delhi.

He further said, “A Government should work as a governor and not as a party.” He told to reporters, “After the elections in Goa, INC was the party with the highest majority, it (BJP) got less seat (Than Congress). BJP got only 11 while Congress got 14 seats after the elections.

Azad said among the other parties, the Goa Forward Party has three, the MGP has three, one speaker and the remaining three are independent.

The Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar who is led by all the 14 Congress MLAs went Raj Bhavan handed a letter stating that it should have a right to make the decision to form the next government as it’s the only largest party.

Kavalekar told to reporters, “We are saddened by the death of CM Parrikar and before his final funeral rites a new government must be formed. By the acknowledging Congress, the governor has said that it will get back to us’.

Ahead of Parrikar’s death, the opposition had before had written to the governor so that to establish a new government.

BJP senior leader and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari have arrived Goa to elect a new candidate for CM post.
