Woman Raped By Employer At His Flat, Dies After Being Thrown From 10th Floor In Kanpur

Mumbai: A 19-year-old woman was raped by her employer and thrown off the 10th-floor balcony in Kanpur, police said.

An official said that the accused dairy operator initially tried to mislead the police but later confessed to his crime.

On Tuesday, the accused took the victim, working as his secretary, to his flat in Kalyanpur on the pretext of some government work. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) BBGTS Murthy said that he tried to persuade her to have a physical relationship by paying him money but when he refused, he raped her.

He said that after the rape, the woman threatened to report the matter to the police, after which the accused pushed her from the balcony of his 10th floor flat, leading to her death.

The DCP said the accused was arrested on Wednesday and produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate. He told that the court has sent him to judicial custody.
