Women Allowed To Travel In Local Train From Oct 21 In Maharashtra

Mumbai: In a recent development, the request of the Maharashtra government to allow women to travel in suburban trains has been accepted by Minister of Railway Piyush Goyal. 

Goyal took to Twitter to share the good news and said that “I am happy to announce that Railways will allow women to travel on suburban trains from 21 Oct between 11 am to 3 pm & after 7 pm.”

“We were always ready and with the receipt of a letter from Maharashtra Govt today, we have allowed this travel,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mumbai and Maharashtra saw a drop in the daily count of COVID-19 cases on Monday.

The state reported 5,984 fresh cases, with a total tally of 16,01,365, and 125 new deaths were recorded. The death toll now stands at 42,240. As many as 15,069 people were also discharged. 

The state currently hosts 1,73,759 active cases. The tally of cases in Mumbai too saw a drop with 1233 new cases being reported, taking the total to 2,43,172. The death toll in the city increased to 9,776 with 45 fresh fatalities.
