Women Astronauts Will Be A Part Of India’s First Manned Mission To Space 2021

Mumbai: India will send a manned mission to space in December 2021 and it is likely to become part of a women astronaut team.

ISRO Chief K. Sivan announced a timeline for the Gaganaya Mission in a press conference in Bangalore on Friday. Unmanned missions are scheduled for December and July 2021 next year. The manned mission is scheduled for December 2021.

“We not distinguishing. Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel will be there, civilians can also be there. If they meet the required criteria and standard, they will be selected. The selection committee will take the final call,” he said.

On last year Independence day, PM Modi announced Gaganyaan mission.

Whereas the initial training for Gaganyaan astronauts will be held in India coming to advanced training it will likely to happen in Russia, he added.

Modi had said that the mission will be launched using ISRO’s own capabilities and if successful, India will become the fourth country in the world to do so.
