Women In Gujarat Hacked To Death By Married Lover Over Never-Ending Shopping Demands

The accused decided to eliminate her as she threatened to inform his family about their affair

Mumbai: In Gujarat’s Chhota Udepur, a married man allegedly hacked his lover to death with a barber’s razor because he was fed up with her never-ending demands for shopping.

The Chhota Udepur police’s crime branch arrested the accused, based on CCTV footage and the victim’s call details, on Friday. He has been identified as Ramesh Panchal.

Panchal, a resident of Jambughoda, was in an extramarital relationship with the now-deceased woman, Leela Bariya of Sankheda. He worked as a welder at an engineering company & received Rs 350 per day.

During questioning, Panchal stated that he was fed up with Bariya’s never-ending demands for shopping. Also, she kept demanding money from him. He killed her by slitting her throat using a barber’s razor, according to a report by The Times of India.

“The accused and the victim were married and had their respective families. But whenever the accused would reach his workplace in Bodeli, the victim would call him asking him to take her out to the market for shopping,” the report quoted a police officer as saying.

Panchal stated that he found it difficult to fulfil Bariya’s demands and shoulder his household responsibilities due to low income. He could not even sever ties with Bariya as she threatened to inform his family about their affair. He, subsequently, decided to eliminate her.

On September 8, Panchal took Bariya to Pavagadh with the intention to kill her. However, he failed because many people were present there.

On September 28, the two met on Sankheda-Handod Road. Finding an opportune time, he slit her throat using a barber’s razor. After that, he fled from the spot.
