Won’t Be Surprised If Dhoni Continues To Lead CSK Next Season: Gautam Gambhir

Mumbai: Despite a poor season, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir said he has no doubt that MS Dhoni will continue to captain CSK in the next edition of the IPL.

“MS (Dhoni) plays till the time he wants to play. And then next year he still continues to be the captain and have a much different squad,” said Gambhir.

Gambhir told ESPNcricinfo, “I keep saying why CSK is because of the relationship between CSK owners and the captain. They have given MS all the freedom, and MS has given respect to everyone from the owners as well.”

“What he has done for the franchise and how the franchise actually deals with MS and treats MS is a fabulous relationship.

With Dhoni struggling to help CSK continue their desired level of performance, fans are wondering if the 39-year-old will also lead the franchise next season. However, Gambhir has no doubt about Dhoni’s continuity.

“So I wouldn’t be surprised if they continue to play with MS and MS until he wants to play. And then next year he still remains captain and he has a very different team than this time.”

Gambhir said, “MS have won them three trophies, Champions League doubles, they have made them one of the top successful sides in the IPL after Mumbai Indians.”
