Would-Be Great To Have Pink Ball Test Against India: Mitchell Starc

Mumbai: Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc said on Tuesday that it would be great to have a pink ball test against India later this year.

His remarks came ahead of India and Australia are scheduled to play a four-match Test series later this year.

“Yes, I think the series against India as a whole is a great thing. The fans love it, it’s a different aspect of the game, the bat and ball are closer as well in that contest,” Starc said in a video posted by cricket.com.au on its website.

“India has played a pink ball test in India, they are not foreign to it. We have a good record with the pink ball at home. I think it would be great to test the pink ball against India and what will happen. I have heard that India is also open to this, ”he said.

India played its first day-night Test match against Bangladesh in 2019 last year.

The side managed to register a win and after that Test, speculation began as to whether India would play the day-night Test against Australia.

However, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly confirmed in February this year that a day-night Test match would actually be played against Australia.

Earlier this year, Australia replaced India as the number one team in the ICC Test rankings.

In the World Test Championship (WTC) standings, India is at the pole position while Australia is placed second.

All international cricket has been suspended since March due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, both BCCI and Cricket Australia have shown interest in moving forward with the series
