Wrong Allegations By Modi On Rajiv Misusing INS Viraat: Former Navy Commander Admiral L. Ramdas

Mumbai: In the allegations made by PM Narendra Modi on Rajiv Gandhi, INS Viraat was used as a private taxi, which was rejected by the former naval chief, Admiral L. Ramdas, as well as the former aircraft officer of the aircraft carrier.

Vice Admiral (Retd) Vinod Pasricha, who took charge of the ship during the visit of the then Prime Minister, said that during the official visit of Gandhi in 1987, all protocols were followed, no foreigners or other guests were involved in it.

Earlier, addressing the rally, Modi said that the former Prime Minister used the INS Viraat as a private taxi and was riding on his in-laws’ carrier.

Vice Admiral Pasricha said, “The claim was totally wrong.”

Meanwhile, another former Navy Commander (Retd) VK Jaitley said in a tweet, “Rajiv and Sonia Gandhi used the INS Virat for the journey to celebrate their holidays in Bangram Island. Mass use of Indian Navy resources I was a witness. At that time INS Viraat. ”

The former navy chief said, “The Prime Minister and Mrs Gandhi were boarded at Lakwadip, which came out of Trivandrum in INS Viraat. The Prime Minister was the chief guest in the National Sports Awards distribution in Trivandrum.”
