You Will Run Govt Or Cook? Pawar On Shiv Sena’s Meal promise

Mumbai: NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday mocked the Shiv Sena for its promise to provide food at Rs 10, reminding that in the past, it had started ‘Zunka Bhakar’ centres which later disappeared. “Are people asking you to run a state or cook a meal?” Pawar asked. The NCP chief said this while addressing a rally in Solapur, Maharashtra.

The Shiv Sena announced its election manifesto on the very first day and said that it was promised to provide full food to the poor in the state for just Rs. 10. However, it did not go well with the NCP chief.

Before making fun of the promise of providing subsidized food, Sharad Pawar recalled the Jhunjhar scheme launched by the BJP-Shiv Sena coalition government in Maharashtra in the 1990s.

Pawar said that the Shiv Sena workers never got the space provided for them by closing these centres, “And now it’s a 10-rupee meal plan. Are people asking you to run a cooking position?” Asked the NCP chief.
Attacking, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, he claimed that the BJP is ready for a contest but there is no opponent to fight in the state.

The NCP chief asked why the saffron party has organized nine rallies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and twenty rallies of Union Home Minister Amit Shah if there is no rival to contest the BJP in the upcoming elections.

Maharashtra elections for 288 assembly seats will be in the same phase on 21 October and the results will be declared three days later on 24 October.
