Youngster Should Have Freedom To Express Themselves Freely: Rohit Sharma

Mumbai: White-ball vice-captain Rohit Sharma feels that’s youngsters should have the freedom to express themselves freely.

It has been a great year for Indian opener Rohit Sharma as he hit 10 hundred this year and he has proved that why he is known as best openers in the limited-overs game.

Rohit shared his experiences of his early days as a cricketer while interacting with young trainees at his cricket academy here on Thursday.

PTI quotes Sharma saying, “There’s no harm in playing big shots, trying to play a flamboyant cover drive. When we were growing up and playing shots in the air, we were taken out of the nets, which was not right because eventually, you want the results.”

“If the boy is giving you results by playing big shots, then there is nothing wrong. As a young child, growing up in this generation, you want to play shots. You want to look good (batting) but then Se. It is very important what they think about their game and what they understand about the game,” he said.

“We need to be careful with this if the player is making mistakes, again and again, he needs to explain how he should go next time. I mean it’s not a crime to play shots.”

Rohit stressed that supporting young players is important to assure them of their game.

“I would encourage that they play the shot if they want, but at the same time, they need to understand that they need to produce the result. This is the game. You score 100 off 50 balls or 200 balls, no matter what. Falls. ” Still a hundred.

“I mean, if a man believes in his skill, I will take that skill back. There should be no restriction on how these young players want to bat. They were allowed to bat freely Should be known, that is how they will produce results. “

The Indian opener also wished the defending champions and the India Under-19 team for the upcoming World Cup in South Africa.

“Our team looks very strong as always. We won last. I wouldn’t say we will win this year either. I’m sure about one thing – they’re going to work really hard. They have got excellent coaching staff. Of course, it is a big platform and in big platforms, India teams generally do well. I hope they bring the cup back home, “he said.
