Mumbai : The Madras High Court ordered Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam that M Karunanidhi to be buried at Marina Beach after the state government opposed for the same. Karunanidhi’s son MK Stalin broke down in the court after hearing.
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam state government has denied the demand of late M Karunanidhi of DMK to be buried at Marina Beach after which DMK moved to court on Tuesday. The court accepted the demand and finally gave the permission.
M Karunanidhi died at the age of 94 yesterday. His death was followed by tributes and condolences from politicians as well as film and sports personalities. He had been hospitalised since July 28.
The body of M Karunanidhi was taken to his Gopalapuram residence from hospital around 8:30 pm. He was then kept in CIT Colony till 3 am and Rajaji Hall from 4 am. PM Narendra Modi paid last respect to him at Rajaji hall.
The earlier chief minister including Jayalalitha, AIADMK founder MG Ramachandran, DMK founder C Annadurai have been buried at Marina.
Otherformer chief ministers, who were not in charge of the state when they died, like K Kamaraj and C Rajagopalachari, have their memorials at Gandhi Mandapam in Guindy.
