Five Crore Minority Students To Get Scholarships in Next Five Years : Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi

Mumbai: In the next five years the government will be providing several scholarships to around five crore minority community students. Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Tuesday that 50% of the girls were included in this number.

He said, “A large number of madrassas are associated with formal education and mainstream education across the country so that the children studying there can also contribute to the development of the society.”

Speaking about the scholarship, the minister said, “To ensure the socio-economic-educational empowerment of minorities especially girls through education, employment and empowerment, 3E- pre-matric, post-matriculation, merit-cum- Different scholarships including Means, etc. will be provided to 5 crore students in the next five years.”

Regarding improving the quality of education in the madrasas, Naqvi said, “Teachers across the country will be trained in different subjects like Hindi, English, by the various institutions.”

He said that in order to encourage education, ‘Padho-Badho’ awareness campaign will be launched across the country, especially among the girls of minority communities, where people do not easily send their children to school.

He said that students of economically weaker sections of minority communities will be provided free coaching for central and state administrative services, banking services, selection of staff, railway and other competitive examinations.
