Unvaccinated Students Can Write Board Exams: Maharashtra Govt

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has issued an official notification allowing students who are not vaccinated against the coronavirus to appear in the board exams.

The state government also referred to an incident where class 10 students were forced to get vaccinated or miss their exams and said that no school should do so.

However, schools have been told to encourage students to get vaccinated for their own safety. The state government highlighted a case study of a Maharashtra school that forced class 10 students to either vaccinate or miss exams.

“No school/high school shall compel its students to be vaccinated. Board examination shall be open to all students, whether vaccinated or not,” the notification said.

“While research shows that youth has not been affected by the virus as much as the rest, it would still be great to have the added benefit of protection for our students. I am hopeful that the students will get the vaccination,” said Uday Nare, a school teacher in Andheri.

According to a statement released by MSBSHSE in December last year, the HSC oral exam will be conducted from February 14 to March 3, while the written paper will be held from March 4 to April 7, 2022.

Similarly, SSC’s oral examination will be conducted from February 24 to March 14 and written examination will be conducted from March 15 to April 18, 2022.
