Odisha Allows Schools For Classes 8-12, Colleges To Reopen From February 7

Mumbai: Odisha government has announced that schools for classes 8-12, colleges, universities and other technical and professional education institutions in the state will reopen from February 7.

The process of reopening will take place class wise. All COVID safety protocols and guidelines are mandatory to follow by students and school staff.

Classes 8 to 12, along with colleges, universities and other technical universities, will resume physical offline classes from February 7, 2022. KG to Class 7 will resume offline from February 14, 2022. Some colleges and universities resumed offline classes at full capacity. February 1, 2022, after the release of the official notice on the official website of the Odisha Higher Education Department.

Odisha’s announcement of reopening of schools, colleges comes before the circulation of a fake notice claiming that schools and colleges in the state will resume physical classes on February 10. Odisha’s school education department addressed the fake notice on Twitter and stated that no such decision has been made as of now.

“A fake letter is circulating in social media purportedly conveying the decision of Higher Education Department to reopen colleges and universities from 10th Feb’2022. It is hereby clarified that no such decision has been taken by the state government,” stated the tweet

On January 7, 2022, Odisha announced that all schools, colleges, universities and other institutions except medical and nursing colleges will remain closed until further notice.

The total number of COVID cases in the state of Odisha rose to around 12 lakh on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. The test positivity rate as of Wednesday is 5.84%.
