Offices can operate with 100 per cent attendance and people driving cars alone are not required to wear masks.

The national capital’s decision to ease restrictions and allow schools and colleges to reopen comes a day after the Center dropped the number of COVID-19 cases and the positivity rate, or the number of people infected by every 100 tests.

The decisions were taken based on expert advice amid a steady decline in the positivity rate and the COVID-19 numbers. During the DDMA meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, emphasis was laid on increasing the vaccination for the age group of 15-18.

Daily COVID-19 cases in India fell 50 per cent to 1,72,433 from 3,47,254 in the two weeks between January 21 and February 3.

During the same period, the positivity rate or the number of infections per 100 tests fell by 39 per cent from 17.94 per cent to 10.99 per cent, showing a clear decline in the daily positivity rate indicating a reduction in the spread of COVID-19 infections.
