West Bengal Polls 2021: Mithun Chakraborty, PM Modi Among Star Campaigners For BJP In Upcoming Polls

Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday announced the list of star campaigners for the West Bengal assembly elections, including actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Cabinet Minister Smriti Irani, Nitin Gadkari, Dharmendra Pradhan, West Bengal BJP in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya, West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh are among the prominent star campaigners.

Apart from Mithun Chakraborty, actor-leaders like Lockett Chatterjee, Roopa Ganguly, Babul Supriyo, Manoj Tiwari, Surabanti Chatterjee, Payal Sarkar and Heera Chatterjee are also going to campaign for the BJP.

Mithun Chakraborty, who recently joined the BJP, will campaign for Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram, who has been fielded as Mamata’s opponent in a fierce face-off.

West Bengal elections will be held in eight phases, from 27 March to 29 April. The results will be announced on 2 May.

The term of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government headed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will end on May 30 this year. This time in West Bengal, there is a possibility of a triangular contest with TMC, Congress-Left alliance and BJP.

Mamata Banerjee is seeking her third consecutive term, while the BJP has set a target of winning 200 seats in the 294-member state assembly.
