Ban PUBG Mobile’s India Alternative Battlegrounds Mobile India: CAIT To Govt

Mumbai: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) wrote to IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad demanding a ban on PUBG Mobile being relaunched as Battlegrounds Mobile India.

Battleground Mobile India, an alternative to PUBG Mobile India, was launched last week for pre-registered beta testers. Notably, the game has already crossed 5 million downloads in its initial phase.

The game is facing backlash from the government due to Crafton’s tie-up with Tencent and threats to security. Now, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has raised its voice against the relaunching of PUBG Mobile as Battleground Mobile India.

CAIT said that Google should not be allowed to offer its platform to those companies which can potentially harm the security of the country. The letter also mentioned that although Battlegrounds Mobile India is exclusive to India, user data will be transferred to Singapore and other regions.

Also, non-Indian law will apply to user data, and the app will have features of PUBG Mobile, which was banned in India last year. It was also revealed that the app package for the game on the Play Store has pubg imobile for pre-registration.

Praveen Khandelwal, National Secretary General, CAIT shared the letter on Twitter with multiple tweets urging the government to ban Battlegrounds Mobile India.

It is worth noting that Battleground Mobile India is a rebranded version of PUBG Mobile. Changes have now been made to less violent material like blood shown in green. Crafton has also customized the game with India-centric features.

The game was initially supposed to be launched as PUBG Mobile India but was later announced as Battlegrounds Mobile India after a delay of months. The game is getting much a response that it will be interesting to see whether it will actually launch in India or not.

Meanwhile, Battlegrounds Mobile India launch date has not been announced by Krafton as yet.
