Bombay High Court Grants Interim Relief To Raj Kundra In Pornography Case

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court today granted interim protection from arrest to businessman Raj Kundra in a pornography film racket case registered by the city police in 2020. 

A single bench of Justice SK Shinde directed the police to respond to the anticipatory bail plea filed by Raj Kundra on August 25.

“Interim protection granted till then,” Justice Shinde said.

Actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra is currently in jail after being arrested in July in another case related to making and distributing obscene clips on some mobile apps.

After the sessions court rejected his application for pre-arrest bail, he had filed an anticipatory bail plea in connection with the 2020 case in the high court last week.

In his plea, Raj Kundra claimed that another accused in the case has been granted bail, and hence, he should also be granted bail based on equality.

Opposing the petition in the High Court on Wednesday, Additional Public Prosecutor Prajakta Shinde submitted that Raj Kundra’s role in the case was different from that of the other accused in the case

She sought time to take further instructions on the application.

Giving him time, Justice Shinde directed Raj Kundra to pass an interim order protecting him from arrest by the next date of hearing – August 25.
