Salman Khan’s Security Upgraded After Firing Incident Outside His House

Mumbai: Days after the firing outside Salman Khan‘s home, Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, the actor’s security was reviewed and upgraded on Thursday, Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar told CNN-News18.

Additionally, Phansalkar said that personnel in the security convoy will carry two automatic guns. He further said that the security audit of Khan’s family is currently taking place.

Prior reports said that the firing plan originated in the US, when US-based mobster Rohit Godara was tasked with choosing the shooters by Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother Anmol Bishnoi. According to the police, Godara possessed a wide network of skilled shooters throughout India.

Leading Mumbai Police sources told News18 that the attack was carried out by Rohit Godara, who runs the Bishnoi gang in Rajasthan, and that the firing is being carried out by mobster Lawrence Bishnoi’s group.

Confirming that the threat is linked to the Bishnoi gang, the Mumbai Police commissioner told CNN-News18, “We are substantiating it with evidences”.

He added that their teams had located the weapon and that, ideally, some progress will be made soon.

Notably, police teams are currently at the scene of the weapon’s disposal in Surat, Gujarat, searching for the shooting weapon.

On Sunday, the number of police officers stationed outside Galaxy Apartments was increased. Prior to this, Khan was protected by two PSOs, two commandos, two escort cars, and eleven police officers under the Y+ category. But this convoy now included one PSO and three police officers.

On Tuesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde hosted the actor from Bajrangi Bhaijaan at his home. He told Khan and his family that their security had been stepped up and reassured them that they would be secure.

Following the discussion, Chief Minister Shinde declared that police would prosecute Salman Khan’s firing case with rigor.
