NEET PG 2021 Exam Postponed By At Least 4 Months, To Be Held After August

Mumbai: The Centre on Monday said that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG 2021 examination has been postponed by at least 4 months. It won’t be held before August 31, 2021, said the government.

This step has been taken to make more medical graduates available for COVID19 duty as the country fights the worst phase of the epidemic. A new date has not been announced yet.

On May 2, 2021, PM Narendra Modi reviewed various measures to increase human resources to effectively manage the prevailing COVID situation.

The government was expected to take the option that it may ask medical and nursing students to join epidemic duty for the preparation of NEET PG 2021. In return, the Prime Minister’s Office has offered incentives to medical graduates who decide to complete the task.

The decision was taken keeping in view of the concerns regarding medical professionals to manage the spike in the cases. PM Modi chaired a high-level meeting yesterday as some part of the country showed a sharp rise in COVID 19 cases. Also, testing facilities are seen to be under strain.

Earlier, the government has asked Indian Army and Indian Airforce to indulge in COVID 19 duties. Indian army had opened temporary hospitals and their medical staffs are treating civilians.
