Andhra Pradesh To impose Partial Curfew From 12 pm To 6 am For 14 Days Starting May 5

Mumbai: The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday announced its decision to impose a partial curfew in the state.

On Monday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, ministers and officials reviewed the current situation and decided on measures to curb COVID-19 proliferation.

According to Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Alla Nani, “The Chief Minister has directed curfew in specified hours. With COVID-19 control measures, he has instructed us to increase the bed capacity in hospitals.”

  • The restrictions will stay in force for a period of two weeks.
  • Shops and establishments will be permitted to operate between 6 am and 12 noon.
  • Section 144 of the CrPC will be in force during these hours.
  • From 12 noon onwards, curfew will be in force.
  • Only emergency services will be permitted to operate till 6 am.

Andhra Pradesh has been reporting higher COVID-19 cases with each passing day. On Sunday, the number touched an all-time high of 23,920 cases in the state.

In another development, the Andhra Pradesh government has postponed the Intermediate examination that was scheduled to take place on May 5.
