Odisha Govt Promotes Students Of Class 1 To 8 Without Exams

Mumbai: Odisha government on Wednesday promoted all the students from standard 1 to 8 to the next class without examination for the academic session 2020-21.

The decision of direct promotion was taken in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent school closures.

The Odisha verdict is trying to obey the order of the Puducherry government. Tamil Nadu, too, decided to cancel the board exams for students of classes 10 and 11. A few days ago, the move was taken in view of the fact that the schools remained closed for the most part of the academic year.

The Government of Odisha has also decided to conduct remedial classes at the beginning of the new semester to create a strong basis for the students. Therapeutic classes will be held for at least the first two or three months.

Recently, the Odisha government has also decided to discontinue Sunday classes for students of 10th and 12th from April. The Department of Education of Odisha State has taken this decision to allow more self-study time to the students.

The decision taken by the Odisha state government applies to all government, government-aided and aided private schools. The schools have to promote students from classes 1 to 8 with no annual examinations and also have remedial classes to be conducted compulsorily in the next academic session.

The government of Odisha will soon start a new academic session for 2021-2022. Students are ready to start their new classes with great hopes and heights.
